Z Energy, the soon to be listed fuel retailer, has cut the price of fuel by 2 cents a litre prompted by a rising New Zealand dollar and lower international fuel costs.

A litre of 91 octane petrol now costs 220.9c at the firm's service stations, while a litre of diesel costs 152.9c.

This is the second cut in under a week, with the price of fuel now 6c lower than the record highs seen recently. It is still significantly higher than the 204.5c a litre seen in the first quarter of this year.
