New marketing man for SLI Systems

Recently-listed software company SLI Systems has named Tim Callan as a chief marketing officer to be based in North America.

The company has previously said it was committed to increasing staff numbers as it continued its overseas expansion.

Callan will be based in the company's North American headquarters in San Jose, California.

SLI's search software helps customers find products and services on a company's website. Users include large retailers who pay yearly subscriptions for the search services.

LI Systems said Callan had several years of experience working with market-leading retail and web technology companies, and had worked as an executive at RetailNext, a provider of in-store data and analytics solutions. He was also a former executive of marketing for online security leader Verisign.

SLI reported a net loss of $2.01 million for the year to June 30. Its prospectus forecast a $2.15m loss.
