Christchurch's under $100,000 home repair programme has a new leader, Michele Creagh, whose job is to speed up the repairs and have them completed by the end of next year.

Fletcher Building announced today that Creagh, will become the new general manager Fletcher EQR, replacing David Peterson.

Creagh grew up in Christchurch and completed degrees at the University of Canterbury.

Fletcher Building chief executive Mark Adamson said: "It is important for Fletcher Building to resource the programme with our best management.

"She is one of our highest-performing executives, with a great track record of delivery in her previous roles and has a bright future with the company," Adamson said.

"As a Cantabrian, Michele jumped at the chance to return to Christchurch and continue the work of rebuilding the communities devastated in the earthquakes.

"She is well-known and widely respected for her leadership and exceptional stakeholder management skills, so I am thrilled she is joining the team."

Adamson upped the ante in August this year, saying Fletchers would have all repairs finished by December 2014 rather than 80 per cent as under the contract with the Earthquake Commission.

Then, 42,800 repairs had been completed with about 39,000 to go.

By December only another 5400 have been completed.

Peterson said in July the pace of home repairs being completed by Fletchers EQR had slowed as the firm began to tackle the most complex cases.

Fletchers' scorecard is now 48,233 repairs completed by December 2013 with $1.5 billion of work carried out by contractors since the start of the programme.

Creagh takes up the position on January 14.

She is now general manager of Golden Bay Cement, the country's largest cement manufacturer. She joined Fletchers in 1998 and has had several senior roles

Peterson will take up the role of general manager of Fletcher Building's Roof Tile Group."
