The number of new job advertisements posted on SEEK has grown by 6.5 per cent in the past year.
SEEK's New Job Ad Index grew across the country in the past year, and was 6.5 per cent higher at the end of last month compared to what it was a year ago.
The number of job advertisements placed on the website is growing month by month, with August's total 2.8 per cent higher than July's.
Wellington was leading the way, with 4.4 per cent more jobs advertised on SEEK last month compared to July.
New Zealand was crying out for carpenters, with advertisements for the job increasing 178 per cent since May.
Advertisements for marketing brand managers had jumped by 74 per cent during the same period, and IT security vacancies had increased by 70 per cent.
SEEK New Zealand general manager Janet Faulding said the increase in advertisements pointed to better opportunities for job-hunters.
There were about 16,000 jobs currently advertised on SEEK.
The ratio of new job ads on SEEK compared to the number of applications for those jobs has also risen in the past year, by 4.9 per cent.
