Wanaka is proving it's still a hot-spot for residential development with more than $5 million of sections sold during the weekend.

Developers Willowridge sold the sections at the Meadowstone development when it released stage seven of the project.

All 18 sections in the stage sold for $249,000 each. Because of the demand, two sections in stage eight of the development, which has 11 sections, were also sold.

Willowridge sales manager Tony Brown said he had not seen such high demand for sections for many years.

"This is another good sign that the local construction industry will be very buoyant in the years ahead."
