Serial entrepreneur and angel investor Stefan Korn will step up to the CEO role at Wellington startup incubator Creative HQ in early September.

Korn is a founding investor in New Zealand's first accelerator for tech companies, the Lightning Lab, and has founded several of his own startups. He is also a director at investor firm WebFund.

Korn says Creative HQ is attracting more overseas investments and bringing global experts in to accelerate Kiwi startups.

Creative HQ chair Gerard Quinn says the appointment reflects the close relationship Creative HQ has with the investment community as it celebrates its 10th year.

“Stefan’s expertise and experience in and alongside startup ventures makes him a natural fit for Creative HQ’s work through its incubation programme, digital accelerator and science commercialisation activities,” Quinn says.

Korn will continue serving as director on a number of startup companies in the WebFund portfolio and as a passive investor through his investment company HyperStart.
