Quick action by Kapiti police, using a tracker dog, resulted in three suspected burglars on the run in Paraparaumu village being caught this afternoon.
Three men were spotted seen running from a property in the Marere Ave/Awatea Ave area at about 2.50pm.
Police cordoned off the area shortly after receiving the reports from the public and with the help of a police dog tracked down two of the men and nabbed the third at about 3.30pm
Sergeant Mike Higgie said police were investigating.
The alledged burglars had smashed a window, but did not gain entry to a house and did not manage to steal any items.
Police nabbed them running in the area from the property.
Higgie said the neighbours' prompt actions enabled the police catch the offenders within a short period of time.
The alleged offenders are expected to appear in court this week.
