The trial for a man who police shot and tasered during an alleged domestic assault at Porirua more than a year ago, has been postponed a day.
Ruka Te Pono Hemopo, 48, faces charges of attempted murder, wounding, and threatening to kill. He has pleaded not guilty. When the attempted murder charge was put to him in court today he said, "Definitely not guilty".
Two women, whose names and identifying details were suppressed, were allegedly the victims.
Police called to the house in Penguin Grove, Porirua on May 2 last year shot and tasered Hemopo.
After being treated Hemopo was charged and appeared in court.
His trial was due to begin today in the High Court at Wellington but for reasons discussed privately Justice David Collins has adjourned the trial until tomorrow.
