A suspected dug lab in an affluent Napier street is being searched today.
Environmental Science and Research staff will carry out a scene examination of a Hukarere Rd house where a man allegedly stabbed at the weekend.
The 37-year-old with stab wounds to the head and torso drove himself to the Napier medical centre about 5.30, Sunday morning.
The two-storey house remains taped off and guarded by police. Hawke's Bay senior sergeant Clint Adamson said a specialised team was arriving to examine the suspected clan lab today.
If there are dangerous chemicals in the house they need to be disposed of carefully, he said.
''We're just taking things carefully in case there are any issues there and making sure the right people examine it.''
The occupant of the house was still in hospital recovering from his injuries. Police inquiries were continuing.
The man is yet to be formally interviewed due to his injuries.
