Woman hit in drive-by paintball shooting
A woman has been shot in the face in a drive-by paintball shooting in the Hutt Valley.
Police said two men have been arrested in connection with the incident at 10.45am yesterday.
The woman told police she was hit with paint-ball pellets fired from a passing car as she crossed Waiwhetu Rd in Lower Hutt.
"She was shot in the face with the paint ball gun," Senior Sergeant James Mckay, of the Wellington District Command Centre, said.
Her injuries did not require ambulance assistance, he said.
"I would say that it probably hurt quite a bit and if it was to have hit her in the eye it could have been a different story."
Two Hutt Valley men, aged 20 and 24, were arrested in their car a short time later.
Both were charged in relation to discharging an air gun with reckless disregard for safety and are due to appear in the Hutt Valley District Court this coming week.
