A YouTube video of a fishing fail in Wellington harbour is taking off online.
The video shows a man casting a fishing rod while standing on a plank of wood suspended over the water, with predictably sodden results.
It has received more than 100,000 views within 12 hours of being uploaded to YouTube, due to being posted on Reddit, the self-described "front page of the internet".
It has gone on to appear on BuzzFeed, Yahoo News, 9GAG, Clipstr, Right This Minute, Amuse Me Please and Odd Stuff magazine, and is the fourth-most popular video in YouTube’s charts.
Musician Tom Hollow, who filmed and uploaded the video, said on Facebook that its popularity was "intense".
"Little did I know this morning that today a random video we uploaded to YouTube would manage to reach 100,000 views in less than 12 hours AND feature on 9gag, OddStuff Mag, Clipstr and who knows what else!"
As at noon it had been viewed 107,846 times and received 186 likes.
