Reserve Bank Governor Alan Bollard is reportedly poised to announce he is stepping down in September.

Deutsche Bank economist Darren Gibbs predicted in a note yesterday that Bollard would step down later this year at the end of his second five-year term.

Another economist also said this week that Bollard's recent actions showed he was likely to resign this year.

''When you get a Reserve Bank Governor writing their own book, you get the impression, yeah, he's not going for another term.''
