Charlie's boss Stefan Lepionka will step down as chief executive at the end of July but he will stay involved with the juice company as a board member

He wants to "add his skills to a broader range of businesses in New Zealand in governance and mentoring roles" and is keen to participate in new ventures.

"The spirit of entrepreneurship is in my blood and it's an attitude to business I am also keen to take to boardrooms in the wider commercial sector," Lepionka said, adding that he is keen to get involved with other New Zealand entrepreneurs.

Lepionka co-founded Charlie's with former rugby star Marc Ellis and Simon Neal in 1999. The company bought Phoenix Organic drinks company in 2007. Last year Charlie's was bought by a subsidiary of Japanese brewer Asahi and is now part of the Schweppes group.

Lepionka finishes as CEO on July 31 and the company said it has already begun the search for a new chief executive.
