Sports-Wide's gym on The Terrace has been bought and reopened by Lifestyle Health and Fitness Clubs in a last minute deal with the liquidator.

Lifestyle said it would honour all existing Sports-Wide member contracts for both The Atrium Gym and Pool on The Terrace and the Te Aro gym, which would not reopen.

Sports-Wide's two central Wellington gyms were placed in liquidation on June 5 after the company failed to reach agreement with the Inland Revenue Department over tax and penalties arrears of more than $1 million dollars.

Liquidator John Fisk of PricewaterhouseCoopers closed the doors on June 18 after attempts to sell the gyms as going concerns failed.

Sports-Wide had about 1800 members.

What do you make of New World's Little Shop toys?

I agree with Gareth Morgan, toys are 'brainwashing' kids.

They're harmless fun.

They're educational.

Cunning marketing but not brainwashing.
