Handle on way to make the Cake Tin cool

The Cake Tin is getting a handle.
A new mezzanine bar planned for Wellington's Westpac Stadium will include a bay window that juts out 2.6 metres from the existing wall of the stadium, new resource consent documents show.
The stadium is pushing ahead with a $28 million redevelopment, with the next stage set to get under way in March.
Work on the long-term project - the first major upgrade since the stadium opened in 2000 - was well under way, outgoing chief executive David Gray said yesterday.
Work has begun on new offices and improved media facilities, and the upgraded changing rooms are due for completion next week, in time for the Hertz Rugby Sevens.
Next on the agenda is an upgrade to the members-only Deloitte Clubroom - due to start in March and be finished in May - followed by construction of two new bars in the concourse on the east and west sides.
Wellington City Council issued resource consent for the three areas in the past month.
Timeframes for construction of the two bars, which would be built on mezzanine floors over the concourse, would depend on event scheduling, but the aim was for the eastern bar to be open in 12 months, Mr Gray said.
"We will do the east first and then the west. We can't have that amount of construction going on at the same time."
A proposed construction schedule would go to the board early this year for signoff. All construction depended on major events.
The two mezzanine bars will include large windows, with the eastern one providing harbour views over Waterloo Quay. It would also jut out 2.6m, and be 70m long, the consent application said. The concourse would also be upgraded, and the exterior of the stadium is scheduled to get a revamp after 2016.
