The internet-famous moggy is most known for spending her days in Aro Park befriending passersby.

A well-known Wellington feline, whose fame includes having a Garage Project beer named after her, is recovering after a brutal dog attack.

In a post to Lola the Aro Park cat's Facebook page - which has more than 1300 likes - it was revealed that the much-loved moggy had suffered serious injuries as a result of the attack.

"Lola has been in an accident and is at the vet with a broken paw. She was attacked by a dog but a passer-by was able to save her", the post said.

"She is sedated and on antibiotics at the moment, but her owner will be looking after her while she recovers."

Dozens of people have been posting their well wishes, both to Lola and to the mystery man who rescued her.

"Big ups to the passer-by. Apparently, he was very brave and bleeding so thank you whoever you are," one post said.

Lola is well-known in the Aro Valley community and beyond. Alongside her prolific social media presence, she also has a Garage Project beer named after her, which was described as a "cherry cola dunkel, a boundary bending, trans-style take on the classic German dark lager".
