Melbourne's Wellington restaurant opens tonight

Logan Brown chef Shaun Clouston will open Wellington's pop-up restaurant in Melbourne tonight.

Melbournians snapped up 500 tickets to the restaurant in the first 25 minutes they were on sale and pre-sale tickets sold out last week but Positively Wellington Tourism Australia marketing manager Brad Monaghan said walk-up seats were still available.

Diners will be served dishes cooked by some of Wellington's top chefs, including Clouston, Boulcott Street Bistro's Rex Morgan and Jacob Brown from The Larder in Miramar.

Meals will be washed down with Tuatara and Moa beer and wines from 20 vineyards in Wairarapa, Hawkes Bay and Marlborough.

The restaurant, called WLG for the city's airport code, will close on November 27.

The inaugural Wellington pop-up restaurant was set up in Sydney in September last year, and served 3000 diners.

Visitor arrivals into Wellington from New South Wales increased 10 per cent year on year in the six months following the initiative.
