Births, deaths and celebrations notices now online
Notices of births, deaths and celebrations are of the smallest 'articles' in a newspaper - yet most of them contain news of massive importance ... the beginning of a life, the end of another, the twining of two.
And so often - almost daily, in fact - we're asked: 'Can you please put those notices online so we can read them no matter where in the world we are?'
Fairfax Media has taken that request to heart. And all notices of births, deaths and celebrations that are placed in one of its papers, will - for a small fee - go online on The Dominion Post's website, dompost.co.nz. There is also the option of adding a tribute book.
The database, backdated to January this year, is searchable for births, deaths and celebrations throughout New Zealand. Readers who follow the easy registration process will be able to comment on the notices, whether offering condolences or congratulations, as the case may be.
In addition, photos can be uploaded, donations made to charities in lieu of flowers, and gift registers linked for weddings.
