OPINION: Calls for John Terry to be stood down as captain of the English football team due to an alleged affair have been ludicrous.

Infidelity is a fact of life that encroaches on all facets of society and, as recent events will testify, this includes sports stars.

If we are to continue to crucify anyone famous that does not meet an "idealistic clean living" prototype, then let's forget about the future king of England and go straight to Prince William.

It's equally ludicrous to get so upset about it that one would feel the need to write to the editor of a newspaper half a world away!
