OPINION: Today's Tui billboard moment? As a teacher of English, with 25-plus years' experience, reading the following: "Teachers present heart-tugging examples of pupils considering themselves failures when faced with the sometimes unpalatable results from national standards systems. But that can be addressed in work programme discussions with parents and pupils to try to regain lost ground."

Shame on Richard Long. That last trite sentence exposes his ignorance of the complexities of the teaching and learning process at all levels.
