OPINION: The signatories to Dawkins' views are flawed represent an eminent collective of Christian scientists, committed to science and belief in a god that initiated and guides the world.
The main thrust of Professor Richard Dawkins' Wellington address concerned whether the facts of evolution had been fully tested in order to confirm them as proven.
All the signatories will know of Karl Popper's requirements of testability and potential falsifiabilty of any scientific theory or discovery.
The presence of a controlling or initiating deity doesn't meet these requirements and so must become a matter of faith.
Professor Dawkins deals in facts and the facts of evolution deserve the epithet "proven".
He also dealt with the old acorn of morality - that is, without God, we'll all descend into Sodom and Gomorrah. Today, with more than enough religion, and in many cases because of religion, we're already there.
The belief in an omnipotent and omniscient god, who initiated and controls current events, means God has foreknowledge of events and could cancel them.
If "he" does have this power and does nothing, "he" is malevolent.
If "he" doesn't have this power, why call him God?
