OPINION: I congratulate Auckland mayoral candidate Simon Prast for admitting his former drug use. I admire his courage and honesty.

I disagree with fellow contender Ewen Gilmour's brushing aside of the issue, saying it should be left to Parliament.

Drug prohibition is wrecking every community and all New Zealanders are responsible for calling on Parliament to end it.

I encourage all local body candidates to admit their former or current drug use.

I'm a candidate for the Wellington mayoralty. Last week, I had some 2-CE. It was OK but not as good as P.

At the moment, I'm drinking merlot and smoking pot. But I like heroin best of all.

I think it's time for all New Zealanders to come out of the closet on their drug use.

We must stop allowing our policy debate to be led by wilfully ignorant bullies, such as Auckland Mayor John Banks and former associate health minister Jim Anderton.
