Letters to the Editor

Gun salute a jarring commemoration Our roads are too run-down Give dolphin cash to charity Fuzzy science goals sound familiar Not up to pedestrians to watch for cyclists Don't envy clogged Auckland roads 'More roads' mantra needs a rethink Credit where it's due Land should be for all of us to enjoy Freedom of speech a valuable right

OPINION: Yes, Monday's Josef Mengele- Paula Bennett cartoon was pretty rough (Letters, May 15). So, of course, is the Government's notice to beneficiaries that it doesn't want their children. The eugenics and population-control road we are now on is the same as that taken by other totalitarian governments such as those in China and Nazi Germany.

We should note that Dr Mengele didn't break any of his nation's laws. Some laws are inherently wrong because they're unethical. It's not ethical for our Government to single out any group of citizens and suggest they shouldn't have more children.
