Feeding kids about more than money Rest homes there to help voters If they want it, give it to them Choice of words mixes message Light rail still makes sense Ease up on the scaremongering Haka meant to be about peace, not war Chess is a valuable teacher Centenary time to remember sacrifices Time to sift through facts and figures

OPINION: South Wairarapa Mayor Adrienne Staples and the other two Wairarapa mayors tell us (Nov 3-4) that they'll be continuing down the path to being a unitary authority. This is the route they've taken since the debate started and they're yet to put up an argument as to why.

They've commissioned two expensive reports, which conclude that such an option would be prohibitively expensive. It may not be viable.

This option would add an average of $500 to each local rate demand annually and it's a stretch to think that local governance is so treasured as to justify it. Let them go public on how we'll cope with this cost or what services will they cut. Will it be the rail service, the irrigation project or environmental management?
