OPINION: You reported the shocking health problems that can arise from Type-2 diabetes (Nov 15). The diabetic whose story featured in the article was described as ''paying a heavy price'' for breakfasts of six fried eggs, half a loaf of bread, and half a kilogram of bacon. The real price, in money terms, is, however, something we all pay, via the health system. Type-2 diabetes amounts to self- inflicted injury, as do health problems caused by smoking. Obviously we can't refuse to provide healthcare in this situation but stark warnings such as those appearing on cigarette packets seem to be needed for diabetics, too.
