I refer to Memorial Park prospect is terrifying (Letters, Nov 16), by Gabby Bush.

OPINION: Planning for Memorial Park has been under way for many years and extensive thought and consultation have gone into designing a safe, functional and enjoyable space for the public.

Visitor safety is of the utmost priority. The Culture and Heritage Ministry has commissioned a report looking into safety issues at Memorial Park. The park will be an asset to the local community as well as a national space for remembrance and we will ensure a safe environment is created, which takes into consideration the needs of all its many users.
