The Dominion Post reports in an article outlining the key changes to the WOF system that: ''It would be unlikely that the police would have the resources to jack up your car and check the brake linings on the side of the road.''

OPINION: The checking of brake linings is not and never has been part of a WOF check. The only exception would be if the brake pads could be viewed and their condition established without removing a wheel during the check.
