Feeding kids about more than money Rest homes there to help voters If they want it, give it to them Choice of words mixes message Light rail still makes sense Ease up on the scaremongering Haka meant to be about peace, not war Chess is a valuable teacher Centenary time to remember sacrifices Time to sift through facts and figures

OPINION: One could be forgiven for noticing the similarities between the New Zealand Army and their recent reckless live firing exercises in tinder-dry areas, and those of a certain Captain Mainwaring and his troupe of Home Guard volunteers that featured in the well- known TV comedy series, Dad's Army, set in World War II England. Certainly the circumstances of this ineptitude would have made a hilarious episode in that series, despite being alarming in today's real-life conditions.
