OPINION: Reserve Bank Governor Graeme Wheeler's comment that manufacturing in this country is in decline should have been front page news, given the hundreds of thousands employed in this sector (RB 'stands ready to intervene' on dollar, BusinessDay, Feb 21).

Dr Wheeler's opinion contradicts our prime minister, who continues to lambast the Greens and Labour when they point to the tens of thousands of jobs lost in recent years.

If Dr Wheeler's correct, where will the replacement jobs come from? Professional sport? Coffee makers? Bankers?
