Gun salute a jarring commemoration Our roads are too run-down Give dolphin cash to charity Fuzzy science goals sound familiar Not up to pedestrians to watch for cyclists Don't envy clogged Auckland roads 'More roads' mantra needs a rethink Credit where it's due Land should be for all of us to enjoy Freedom of speech a valuable right

OPINION: The near failure of Solid Energy and the resulting decimation of shareholder equity raises serious concerns about corporate governance and stewardship.

Bonuses were paid to executives when the wheels were about to fall off the coal cart. In the new age of accountability, we'd expect a clawback of bonuses paid in the preceding two years. No doubt the former chief executive will do the honourable thing and dip into his pocket book.
