Bret McKenzie has lost the chance of winning another gong at the Grammys today, but Kiwi singer Kimbra picked up an award for her chart-topping duet with Gotye.

The Flight of the Conchords star's song Man or Muppet, from The Muppets movie, was nominated for best song written for visual media, but was pipped by T-Bone Burnett and Taylor Swift's Safe and Sound, written for The Hunger Games.

The Wellington comedian's tune already gained the award for best song at the Oscars last year.

Kimbra, 22, of Hamilton, and Gotye claimed the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with the song Somebody That I Used To Know.

Kimbra's duet with Gotye also won the Grammy for Record of the Year.

Gotye alone took out the Best Alternative Music Album category with Making Mirrors.

What do you make of New World's Little Shop toys?

I agree with Gareth Morgan, toys are 'brainwashing' kids.

They're harmless fun.

They're educational.

Cunning marketing but not brainwashing.
