Scottish comedian Billy Connolly is returning to New Zealand for a 12-city tour, including Wellington.

The 71-year-old revealed last year that he underwent surgery for prostate cancer and had been diagnosed with "initial symptoms" of Parkinson's disease.

He told media in October that he had been given the all clear and was doing well.

Connolly, or The Big Yin as he's affectionately known, has been wowing New Zealand audiences with his live standup shows since 1978.

"It's great to have Billy back for a comprehensive 12-city tour," promoter Ian Magan said.

"In the 36 years he has visited New Zealand, Billy has become a true friend to Kiwis who love his irreverent and topical humour."

Connolly is married to New Zealand-born actress and psychologist Pamela Stephenson, whose biography of her husband, called Billy, was a huge bestseller.

Billy Connolly's High House tour includes stops in Wellington, Napier, Auckland, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Christchurch, Timaru, Invercargill, Queenstown, Dunedin, Blenheim and Hamilton.
Tickets go on sale on February 7 through Ticketek, Ticketmaster and TicketDirect.
