Tom Ford has branded Yves Saint Laurent "evil".
The American designer has blasted the late Frenchman for making their time working together "difficult and miserable", even though he helped boost the fashion house's sales with his designs.
Tom - who was creative director of Gucci, who bought out Yves' label in 1999 - said: "Being at Yves Saint Laurent was such a negative experience for me, even though the business boomed while I was there.
"Yves and his partner Pierre Berge were so difficult and made my life such misery.
"I've never talked about this on the record before but it was such an awful time for me. Yves was just evil."
Tom - who departed Gucci in 2004 to launch his own label - is so traumatised by his experiences, he prefers to ignore the period.
He added to Advocate magazine: "Yves Saint Laurent doesn't exist for me."
Yves died in June 2008 aged 71.
