Calm down everyone. its just one little list. its not a global view.
Best song, has to be the Golden Globe Nominated, "When you come back to me" by Garth Brooks.
There is no such thing as a Best song, a Best band or a Best artist. Music Is art and it affects different people in different ways! Music is not a competition! Just enjoy it and get on with it!!!!!!!!
I don't think people are getting why the songs that are on here have been chosen. Most of these bands have formed in the past ten years, and their music is what is influencing modern music. Yes, bands like the Foo Fighters and Muse have released "good" singles in this decade, but it's not really any different to the sound they had in the nineties, so what would be the point in having them on here? This list was chosen well.
What a forgettable decade of music, not many of these songs will be remembered next year let alone for a long period of time
i agree with rob (post #99)
I especially like all the comments saying effectively 'I haven't even heard of these songs, so they can't be any good!' Actually that just meeans you've got no idea about music. I don't agree with the list totally, but having heard all the songs (and they're all good) I at least have an informed opinion.
lol @ #3, since when were Machine Head underground? Machine Head are just as bad/popular as Beyonce.
To the best of my knowledge, every song except for Hey Ya was released after 2005. Shouldn't this be called the best songs of the past 5 years?
Or better yet, the most mediocre? The Klaxons shouldn't even be on that list. Or The Strokes. Meh, what do you expect of an elitist indie mag as NME?
Okay. On second thought, who cares? It's just a list.

I'm 18. I'm ACTUALLY insulted that someone thinks that a Beyonce (a CLEAR feminist) song is the best song of the decade that shaped my life.
Is this list some kind of sick, twisted joke?
