Kiwi comedy group Flight of the Conchords have missed out at this year's Emmy Awards.

Jemaine Clement missed out on the best lead actor award to Alec Baldwin from 30 Rock, and the duo missed out in five other categories as this year's awards were given out.

The show, which also features Bret McKenzie, was also nominated for outstanding comedy series, but the award went to 30 Rock.

The Conchords were nominated in four other categories, including outstanding writing, outstanding directing, outstanding original music and lyrics and outstanding sound mixing for a comedy or drama series.

The HBO-produced show, which has run for two seasons and is in negotiations for a third, chronicles the trials and tribulations of two bandmates struggling to make it big in New York.

It screens on Prime in New Zealand.

Yeah, I agree with pete. These awards are losing their credibility and to be frank, 30 Rocks sucks. I hate Tina fey.

This years emmys sounds a bit in house and nepotistic. Remember they are trying to defend an industry that is increasingly moving offshore, and compete with unadulterated original talent and creativity that is not made in the US.

The Conchords humour is probably a bit subtle for the average yank. Their comedy needs to be loud, repeated and in your face obvious.

Yeah we got it the first time ha ha !
