A police car is towed from the scene of a crash at SH2 in the Hutt Valley.

An alleged red light runner collided with a police car, a truck and a traffic light on SH2 in the Hutt Valley this morning.

At least six police cars were called to the incident, which happened just after 8am near the Block Rd lights.

Sergeant Rodger Hough said the female driver told police she was "distracted".

She will be appearing in court to face careless driving charges.

The police car was taken away by a tow truck and did not appear badly damaged.
