One person was injured when a motorbike and car collided in Lower Hutt this afternoon.

A motorcyclist suffered a suspected broken ankle and back injury after a collision with a car in Lower Hutt this afternoon.

The crash happened at 2.40pm at the intersection of High St and Pretoria St.

The 50-year-old male motorcycle rider was taken to Hutt Hospital with moderate injuries, an ambulance spokesman said.

It was not yet clear how the crash happened, a police spokesman said.
