Drivers told to watch the road

Rubberneckers are being asked to keep their eyes on the road as a crash north of the Wellington urban motorway slows rush hour traffic.

New Zealand Transport Agency spokesman Anthony Frith warned rush hour commuters to expect delays due to a crash in the northbound lane just after the Hutt Road on-ramp which occurred about 4.30pm.

Rubberneckers appeared to be a factor in the heavy traffic stretching back to the Wellington motorway entrance.
Despite the crash being cleared to one side traffic remained congested, Frith said.

"We want to urge people to focus on the road and not the crash."
