Man dies from nail gun injuries

A man who punctured his lung in an accident with a nail gun yesterday, has died.

At about 3pm yesterday, the Lowe Corporation rescue helicopter responded to the incident in central Hawke's Bay after the 31-year-old man accidentally shot himself with a nail gun.

Hawke's Bay Hospital has referred the death to the Coroner.

Another Hawke's Bay man remains in a serious condition after a chainsaw kicked back into his face yesterday.

The 55-year-old from Ongaonga was driven by a friend to the Waipukurau Medical Centre before being airlifted to Hawke's Bay Regional Hospital.

A hospital spokeswoman said the man was in a serious condition.

The incident happened about 11am.
