A five-car nose to tail crash in Pukerua Bay, Porirua this afternoon serves as a reminder for Wellington-area motorists to drive to the weather conditions, police say.
Nobody was hurt in the crash at 1pm, sergeant Andy Dow said.
The crash happened in the northbound lane near the junction of the motorway with Teihana Rd. It was possible that wet weather and a speed zone change from 70kmh to 50kmh caused the accident.
Motorists should observe a four-second rule or more in their following distances, and dip their headlights, Dow said.
"It's all about driver safety. Get there safely."
Shortly after the crash, another minor accident happened in Porirua, on State Highway One at the intersection with Whitford Brown Ave. Nobody was injured.
