A truck has crashed into a power pole, scattering cables across a main road near Wellington Airport, police say.
Emergency services and Wellington Electricity are currently at the scene of the crash on Coutts Street, near Queens Drive in Kilbirnie.
There had been no reports of power outages or telephone lines down yet, police central communications shift commander Sergeant Andy Dow said.
However, motorists were being warned to take detours around Coutts Street tonight.
Emergency services needed space to clear the downed cables off the road, and there was significant damage to the concrete power pole, Dow said.
No-one was reported injured in the crash.
