A mother and daughter missing in the Tararua ranges overnight have been found.

The two women, aged 40 and 60, were tramping in the Totara Flats area of the park, above Wairarapa, police said.

They left the Mt Holdsworth carpark yesterday morning but did not turn up to Waiohine Gorge Rd as planned at 5.30pm.

There had been heavy rain in the area and rivers were flooded.

The women were not equipped for an overnight stay.

Two teams searched for the women overnight and found them shortly after 5am, police said.
