Blaze leaves home badly damagedCOLLETTE DEVLIN
One person has been taken to hospital with serious burns after a house fire in Wellington this morning.
Fire communications shift manager Chris Dalton said only one person was reported as being in the Orissa Crescent house in Broadmeadows.
The person was transported to hospital with ''reasonably serious'' burns, he said.
Firefighters were called to the fire about 11am and found the fire well involved.
The Fire Service received many calls from neighbour and nearby area who could see the flames, he said.
A second call was made for further firefighters to assist, with five trucks in total attending.
The fire was contained in the lounge and kitchen area but caused ''substantial damage to the home," he said.
The fire has been extinguished but three fire trucks remain at the home to dampen down the area, Dalton said.
A Fire Service specialist fire investigator was the scene trying to establish how the fire started.
