Watch out. A vengeful samurai-wolf will be sniffing around Lambton Quay today in search of his missing ear.
He will also be promoting a new Wellington film.
The latest web series, Wolvesblade, written and directed by Wellingtonians Rhys Morgan and Liam Bachler and starring Jeremy Randerson as the crazed wolf, was released online yesterday on wolvesblade.co.nz and Youtube.
Set in a "magical forest where a dark lord reigns", Wolvesblade is a samurai seeking revenge for his missing ear. His enemy is a dark lord and his companion a computer named Laptop whom Wolvesblade has a difficult relationship with. "Laptop is kind of like my guide, my sage, my guru but he's also like ... a real dick," says Wolvesblade.
The plot also involves a love triangle with a character named Shewolf. "I used to be the dark lord's lead henchman until I was caught with his lady. He tried to kill me but I wasted him," Wolvesblade says.
Randerson says Wolvesblade is a character who represents the "template of the next generation of Kiwi males". "I hope it's an inspiration to humanity."
Morgan says Wolvesblade follows a number of other "rude and weird" web creations such as Centaurian and The Legend of Simon Pederson.
Many of these videos star Randerson as Simon Peter playing various characters. "Wolvesblade is another alter-ego of Simon Peter's, another string to his bow," Morgan says.
He "would totally entertain the idea of a Wolvesblade feature film" but despite some international interest, it is purely a Kiwi creation for now.
Morgan describes the series as "rammed to the hilt with satirically marinated New Zealand culture and music".
Local Wellington bands Full F***ing Moon and Hans Milan provide the score.

What a joke country we're becoming if this is the product of artistic expression. A bizzare low-brow mix of fantasy, horrible heavy metal and bad English. I guess this is the product of geographic isolation and being culturally deprived.
And THIS is supposed to be representative of NZ?! Well it's not MY culture...
@Daniel. I don't entirely disagree, but I do have one question:
Which part of a werewolf samurai is indicative of New Zealand culture? 1) There are no wolves in NZ 2) Samurai are Japanese 3) His Japanese katana-pattern sword is apparently made of Spanish 'Toledo' steel?
All-in-all, I loved it, but given that my own heritage is from north-western Europe, none of the above really apply.
Damn, that she-wolf is HOT!!!!!!!!!! Photoshop her into the 2040 photo instead of Miley Cyrus.
@Rangi, sorry i cant make sense of your sentence. I did not mean what i said to be offensive. All im saying is that Wolvesblade is expressive of KIWI identity (culture) that we can all relate to. I only say this because a lot of thought has expressed kiwi culture as being centered on Maori culture, the language used in Wolvesblade gives a merge of both Maori and Pakeha, its an honest account of how NZ'ers speak. In terms of multicultural NZ i feel all ethnicities are able to relate to this, especially if they are born here.
I wish wolvesblade was maori - what would have made the episode so much beta is if he had a taiaha isntead of a sword and did haka after killing people. Kia Kaha Wolfsblade! 2 much bro - Jonny
Winnie - you are offensive! You have the 'F' word and the word 'poo' in your name, I would keep my son away your posts at all costs. I enjoyed Daniels comments personally, well done.
@Daniel, you say that like its other peoples fault that what you call "Kiwi culture" is nothing without Maori culture.
What a tool...
Finally a sense of Kiwi Culture that is not biased towards a certain ethnicity, something that we can all call our own, besides the D*******s like michael and winnie the f ing poo (why dont you have a name that is good for society), who somehow can't comprehend that this is a comedy. The language and visuals are awesome, a great laugh, can't wait to see how this series progresses.
"Laptop is kind of like my guide, my sage, my guru but he's also like ... a real dick," If this is the level of English we can expect of the next generation of Kiwi males, God save New Zealand. An inspiration to humanity....not.

@Been Benuane. Isn't the whole point that this is a 'joke'!?
Brilliant low-brow kiwi comedy paying tribute to and parodying a very real part of our community. As a multi-cultural society we borrow a lot from other cultures we also lose a lot in the translation - Wolvesblade is a fun take on this. A half-wolf, half-samurai is ridiculous and because of this hilarious!
This may not represent your narrow view of kiwi culture but it is a true representation of a distinctly kiwi world view!
GO! THE WOLVESBLADE! CHUR HOOO!!!!!
"Tourists must real hate New Zealand aye?"
