Two Wellington men took advantage of last night's snow storm to lay claim to being the first to ski down Mt Kaukau.
Nick Fone and Daniel Mcfadyen trekked up Mt Kaukau about 11pm on Monday night to see if it was skiable.
They got to the top about midnight and after a couple of bourbon shots skied and snowboarded down the mountain to the corner of Kanpur Road and Nalanda Cresant in Broadmeadows.
"We figured we are the first people to ever properly ski [or] board down from the top of Mt Kaukau," Mr Fone said. "I doubt the opportunity will come around again."
