New beer going to the dogs - and cats
Black Dog Brewery's latest hoppy pilsener is set to be a barking success and the SPCA is thrilled.
All proceeds from the new brew named Skater Hater are set to go to the Wellington SPCA.
Top Dog at the brewery Adrian Klemp said the SPCA was a great organisation to support.
"It's really good to get involved in the community and help out where we can," he said.
"The nature of our brand lends itself to have fun with dogs. We name a lot of our beers after dogs. The SPCA needs money through the year, coming into the festive season there are a lot of dogs and cats that get neglected."
Kemp said the beer was named after a regular dog at the brewery who does not take well to skate boarders.
SPCA chief executive Steve Glassey said the festive season always put more pressure on the organisation, as more animals required their care around this time.
"We will be looking after several hundred kittens and other animals coming up to festive break, so having the support of black dog with this ale is fantastic," he said.
"This is a glorious day, what better to head on down to Blair St and enjoy a beer with your dog."
This is the second year Black Dog have released a beer in support of the organisation.
