Pupils and staff at Te Aro School are being cautioned after a pupil was admitted to hospital with meningococcal disease yesterday.
A spokeswoman for the regional public health office said there had been only one reported case and the child's family and friends had been treated with antibiotics.
The school had been notified.
A Wellington Hospital spokesman said the child was in a stable condition in a ward.
