Fire at Masterton scrap yard
A scrap metal fire is keeping firefighters in Masterton busy this afternoon.
Firefighters were called to Lincoln Rd at 12.45pm on Saturday after thick black smoke was seen rising from a pile of disused cars and scrap.
Central fire communications said firefighters were pulling the cars apart from the pile and dampening hot spots.
Masterton District Council have also been called to the scene to examine the water run-off for stormwater pollution.
