Wellington is in for a blustery weekend with a little rain, but the temperature will be up on the cold week we have just had.
MetService forecaster John Law said mostly fine skies were forecast for today, though a strong northerly wind would strengthen towards Saturday afternoon, where it could reach gale-force. The high was expected to be between 10degc and 14degC.
Temperatures on Saturday and Sunday during the day would also get as high as 14degC, dropping down to about 7degC overnight.
The high pressure system over Wellington today would be replaced by a low pressure system from the Tasman on Saturday.
It would come with blustery north to northwesterly winds and showers on Saturday and some of Sunday.
The weather would improve early next week.
