A man wanted for serious assault on his partner may be armed.
Daniel Minogue, 31, was last seen in Nelson on October 5 and is wanted for a serious assault on his female partner, which took place in the Nelson area.
A known drug user, police said Minogue may be possessing a firearm and should not be approached.
Minogue was described as Maori, with dark hair and about 176cm tall. He has links to the Bay of Plenty area, particularly Taupo, Turangi and Rotorua.
He is known to drive a distinctive black BMW, but may also access other vehicles including a grey two-door Nissan Pulsar.
He may be travelling with another male.
Police have requested any sightings on Minogue to be reported by calling 111. Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts could be reported to the nearest police station, or anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
